Visa

Entry Requirement

A valid passport (and visa if applicable) is required for all persons entering Malaysia. Immigration requests that your passport be valid for at least 6 months. A passport is also necessary for travel between Peninsular Malaysia and the East Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak, as well as between Sabah and Sarawak.

ASEAN Countries and Hong Kong except for nationals of Brunei and Singapore	Visa is not required if not exceeding one month

North Korea, Vietnam, China, Myanmar, Nepal, and Taiwan	Subject to their application for a Visa being approved
Israel, Serbia, and Montenegro	Visa is not required but needed a prior approval from the Malaysian Government
Other Countries	Visa is not required not exceeding one month

Immigration

All visitors are required to complete a Disembarkation Card which is given out on all Malaysia Airlines' flights.

In addition, a Travellers Declaration Form (TDF) must be filled in by all arriving and departing travellers (including children) regardless of the amount of currency carried.Permitted currency limits are as follow:

• A resident and a non-resident is permitted to carry into and out of Malaysia , ringgit notes not exceeding RM1,000 per person.
• There is no limit on the amount of foreign currency noteand traveller's cheques carried into Malaysia by resident and a non-resident.
• A resident is permitted to carry out of Malaysia, foreign currency notes including traveller's cheques, not exceeding RM10,000 equivalent per person.
• A non-resident is permitted to carry out of Malaysia, foreign currency notes including travellers' cheques, not exceeding the amount brought in.

The TDF form is given out on all inbound Malaysia Airlines' flights and at check-in counters. It should be handed to the immigration officer together with the disembarkation card and passport.

Customs

Prohibited Goods - Trafficking in illegal drugs carries the mandatory death penalty in Malaysia.

• A special permits is required for the carriage of firearms and ammunition. Other prohibited items include flick knives, daggers and pornographic material.
• Taped video cassette should be submitted for clearance by Customs.
• Export of antiquities and historical objects is not allowed unless an export licence has been obtained from the Director General of Museums, Malaysia, or if the antiquity was originally imported and declared to customs.
• All passengers must declare the following items to the Plant Quarantine Office upon arrival: plant produce and plant parts including fresh plant produced and processed products, soil and growth/rooting media, insects and other organisms, micro-organisms, herbarium and dried flowers. Penalty for failure to do so is up to RM10,000 or imprisonment not exceeding two years or both.
• Passenger from South and Central America and Central Africa are required to report to the Plant Quarantine Office.
